Corporate Art Collection
(Corporate Collections, Strategy)

In this landmark project, Art Pharmacy were responsible for curating, sourcing and installing an extensive art collection for the client floors of the newly built Deloitte offices in Melbourne. With a guiding curatorial narrative of “Surprise & Delight” the collection heavily focuses on local Victorian artists and makers who are pushing boundaries in their mediums.

Art Pharmacy continued our long and fruitful relationship with Deloitte when we were asked to develop an art collection from scratch for the newly constructed offices in the iconic Olderfleet building in the Melbourne CBD. The ground-breaking collection we curated features 16 Australian artists from a range of mediums including paintings, sculpture, installation, photography, ceramics and murals.

The narrative of “Surprise and Delight” was developed to capture the innovative perspectives and inherent curiosity that is central to Deloitte’s vision. We wanted to express the delight of stumbling upon the unexpected, the intrigue of seeing something from a fresh point of view, a new edge, a sense of play. This collection has a strong focus on fresh emerging talent, humour and subversion.

Art Pharmacy guided the cross-disciplinary Deloitte team through artist selection and concept approval, sourcing a mix of prominent, emerging and established artists. We developed an art strategy for the site, working across the executive, interiors, digital and client services teams to coordinate installation across two client floors in a brand new office fit-out.

Using our large network in Melbourne, we have brought together a collection of significant local Australian artists to make staff members, clients and visitors alike feel at home in this significant new development.

“You are rewarded for investigating your environment through the delight of stumbling upon the unexpected, seeing something from a fresh point of view, a new edge, a sense of play. A culture of discovery through art reflects the urban Melbourne experience, where surprises can be found at every turn. Familiarity and expectation is constantly challenged through renewal and unusual perspectives. Fresh local talent is sought, humour and subversion is celebrated and collaboration is key to creating something unique.

Art Pharmacy is a full service art strategy and culture agency. Our Art Consultants are here to plan, manage and deliver creative projects that culturally enrich spaces and tell interesting stories using high- quality Australian art.” — Surprise & Delight curatorial narrative
